This sandwich defines gameday food. Kielbasa topped with Cole slaw, French fries and a special sauce in a hoagie roll.

Ingredients

  • Sauce
  • 6 jarred banana peppers, or

  • 4 Oz Jarred sliced banana peppers

  • 2 Cloves garlic

  • 1/2 Cup yellow mustard

  • 1/4 Cup white wine vinegar

  • 1/4 Cup Franks red hot or similar sauce.

  • 1/3 Cup sugar

  • 1 Tbs flour

  • 1/8 Cup water

  • Sandwich
  • 1 Tbs vegetable oil

  • 6 kielbasa sausages, single serve size

  • 6 hoagie rolls

  • 1/3 Pound Cole slaw

  • 1/3 Pound French fries, shoestring style preferable

Directions

  • Combine peppers, garlic, mustard, vinegar and red hot sauce in food processor. Pureee until smooth. Pour into a saucepan. Add sugar and while stirring bring to a boil. Then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 30 minutes.
  • Mix flour and water in a separate bowl. It should make a smooth paste. Mix paste into the simmering pepper mixture. Cook another 15 minutes stirring intermittently to form a thick sauce. Remove from heat and let cool in a heat resistant bowl. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Heat skillet with oil or grill to medium. Add kielbasa and cook until lightly browned and remove.
  • Assemble the sandwiches. Place a sausage into each roll, cover with Cole slow, a handful of fries and 2-3 tablespoons of the sauce. Enjoy!

  • Make the sauce a few days ahead of time to simplify preparation on the day you will make the sandwiches.
