Grilling Recipes from our Instagram Live
At the heart of our live event, #duelingweberslive, lay a simple yet compelling concept: two home cooks showcasing their culinary skills on the grill. The challenge was to create dishes that were not only delectable but also straightforward enough for any home cook to replicate successfully. The title itself, #duelingweberslive, neatly encapsulates our passion for grilling and our loyalty to Weber grills.
We plan to maintain the spirit of #duelingweberslive by inviting other home cooks to join us on the grill and showcase the joy of grilling. We aim to inspire our followers and subscribers by demonstrating how easy it is to elevate your grilling skills and move beyond the realm of frozen burger patties and hot dogs at family cookouts.
Our first episode of #duelingweberslive kicked off with our signature Nashville horseradish smash burgers. Despite their simplicity, these juicy patties require a griddle for a proper smash. This “smash” technique results in a complex texture, with the meat developing a satisfying crunch and char that’s absent in traditional grilled burgers. Next up was a delectable side dish: grilled chicken fried rice. Preparing this classic on the grill imparts a subtle smoky flavor that’s hard to achieve on an indoor wok.
To round out the feast, we crafted a grilled pizza topped with sweet and savory Italian sausage and peppers. Few can resist the allure of a perfectly cooked pizza, and our vegetarian friends can easily swap out the sausage for plant-based alternatives to enjoy this culinary delight.
Recipe for Nashville Horseradish Smash Burger
Subscribers to our food blog are aware of this recipe, with its recipe posted in the summer of 2023. we use turkey chop meat mixed with horseradish, Nashville seasoning and a few other items making these delectable burgers healthy in addition to delicious. Grilled Chicken Fried Rice
The second recipe created was grilled chicken fried rice. The recipe is a classic, but also simple, flavorful and delicious. This is a perfect side to so many meals, and if you add extra chicken this recipe can serve as a meal on its own. To prepare, use day old or leftover rice. Believe us, it will help with the texture. Fresh rice will get mushy. On your griddle, brown your chicken, that has been marinated in the Japanese barbeque sauce, cook the vegetables and warm up your rice. Add the garlic, ginger and soy sauce, then combine. Add additional Japanese barbeque sauce. You can watch us prepare this dish here.
Subscribers to our blog have seen us make kimchi fried rice on a griddle. These recipes are similar, the chief difference being the use of Japanese barbeque sauce in place of the Asian sauce created in our blog.
Recipe for Grilled Fried Rice
Use of the Japanese barbeque sauce from our live will save some time and produce a slightly sweeter version of the dish compared to the recipe on our food blog. Our food blog also adds kimchi at the end. Kimchi while completely optional will add some spice and another layer of depth to whichever recipe you choose. Kimchi Fried Rice with Chicken
Difficulty: EasyClassic fried rice with an added punch. Kimchi adds a powerful punch and nutritional benefit to this popular Asian dish.
Grilled Pizza
The third dish we prepared on our #duelingweberslive Instagram event was grilled pizza. We topped the pizza with fresh mozzarella, tangy tomato sauce, and a medley of savory sausage and peppers. The pizza base was crafted using our 90-minute pizza dough recipe. The dough is made in a bread machine,simply add the ingredients, turn on the machine and you have dough in 90 minutes. Consider purchasing the bread machines featured below.
To enhance the dough’s texture and flavor, we prepared it 48 hours in advance, allowing it to rest in the refrigerator until the morning of the live event. At that time, we removed the dough from the refrigerator, divided it into two equal portions, and placed each in a greased Pyrex dish with a lid. The dough rose beautifully and was ready to use by early afternoon.
Recipe for Grilled Pizza
To create this grilled pizza, you’ll need our 90-minute dough recipe and our grilled pesto pizza recipe. Simply switch out the pesto for our sausage and pepper topping. For a meatless option, replace the pork Italian sausages with plant-based sausage.
To prepare the sausage and peppers, remove the casings from 2 or 3 sausage links. Brown the sausages in a pan and set them aside. In the same pan, sauté half a red bell pepper, half a green bell pepper, a diced onion, and 2 to 3 cloves of garlic until softened. Season with salt, pepper and some basil. Combine the vegetables with the cooked sausage and let the mixture cool before using.
